Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho é avaliar atividades comportamentais de búfalos, bem como sua distribuição no período de 24 horas, em sistema de pastejo contínuo. O estudo foi realizado no Departamento de Zootecnia da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE), no mês de janeiro de 2008. Foram utilizados oito bubalinos, quatro machos e quatro fêmeas da raça Mediterrânea, com idade média de 6,6 anos. Os animais foram submetidos ao sistema de pastejo contínuo em pasto de Brachiaria tanner grass. As avaliações comportamentais foram realizadas por um período de 24 horas, com observações e identificação das atividades dos animais a cada dez minutos. As variáveis analisadas foram: ruminação, pastejo, ócio e chafurdar. Os animais dedicaram maiores quantidades de tempo para as atividades de ruminação, ócio e pastejo, com valores de 7,06h; 6,52h e 6,12h, respectivamente. Os animais apresentaram pico de pastejo no início da manhã (6h). As atividades que os bubalinos mais realizaram foram ruminação, ócio e pastejo. Nas horas mais quentes do dia os animais se dedicaram a chafurdar.

Profile Nictemeral Behavioral Ingestivo of Buffaloes Mediterranean in Grassland Brachiaria Tanner Grass in the Forest Zone Pernambucana

abstract: The objective of this study is to assess behavioral activities buffalo, as well as their distribution in the period of 24 hours in continuous grazing system. The study was conducted at the Department of Zootecnia Rural Federal University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), in the month of January 2008. We used eight buffaloes, four males and four females of the Mediterranean race, with a mean age of 6.6 years. The animals were subjected to the system of continuous grazing on pasture grass of Brachiaria tanner. The behavioral assessments were performed for a period of 24 hours, with observations and identification of the activities of animals every ten minutes. The variables examined were: rumination, grazing, leisure and muddier The animals larger amounts of time devoted to the activities of rumination, leisure and grazing, with values of 7.06 h, 6.52 pm and 6.12 pm respectively. The animals showed peak of grazing at the start of the morning (6h). The activities that the buffaloes were held more rumination, leisure and grazing. In the hours hottest of the day is devoted to the animals the muddier.
