Resumo: Formas de estudo para diminuir o problema da evasão no ensino superior brasileiro têm aumentado a cada ano. A tutoria tem como objetivo incentivar a aprendizagem do estudante, acompanhando e orientando-o ao longo do curso, podendo ser uma forma de incentivar os alunos a continuarem na graduação. O Departamento de Zootecnia da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco iniciou no ano de 2008 um programa de Tutoria com o objetivo de acompanhar os alunos ingressos na nova grade curricular do curso de Zootecnia, orientando-os a fazerem as melhores escolhas de acordo com o objetivo profissional de cada estudante. Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar a importância da tutoria na permanência dos estudantes na graduação ingressantes na nova grade curricular do curso de Zootecnia. Para a realização do trabalho foi elaborado um questionário, sendo aplicado a uma amostra de 53 alunos, do segundo e terceiro períodos no ano de 2009. Ao se analisar as variáveis presentes no questionário, pode-se perceber a importância do professor tutor na orientação e permanência dos estudantes no curso, ajudando-os e tirando dúvidas dos mesmos.

abstract: Forms of study to diminish the problem of the evasion in Brazilian superior education have increased to each year. The guardianship has as objective to stimulate the learning of the student, following and guiding it throughout the course, being able to be a form to stimulate the pupils to continue in the graduation. The Department of Animal Science of the Rural Federal University of Pernambuco initiated in the year of 2008 a program of Guardianship with the objective to follow the pupils ingressions in the new curricular grating of the course of Animal Science, being guided them to make it the best choices in accordance with the professional objective of each student. This study it had as objective to analyze the importance of the guardianship in the permanence of the students in the graduation ingressantes in the new curricular grating of the course of Animal Science. For the accomplishment of the work a questionnaire, being applied was elaborated to a sample of 53 pupils, as and the third period of the year of 2009. To if analyzing the 0 variable gifts in the questionnaire it can be perceived the importance of the tutorial professor in the orientation and permanence of the students in the course, helping them and taking off doubts of the same ones.
