Resumo: A proposta deste trabalho foi realizar uma avaliação sobre a participação da atividade pecuária entre os beneficiários do PRONAF na região Norte do estado do Ceará, no ano safra de 2003/2004. A pesquisa teve um caráter eminentemente descritivo. Recorreu-se inicialmente a uma pesquisa documental e bibliográfica que serviu de subsídio teórico para o desenvolvimento do trabalho a partir das principais instituições envolvidas com o Programa, sendo que a partir das tabulações dos dados disponíveis foram selecionados para a pesquisa os municípios de Itarema localizado no litoral norte do estado do Ceará e Sobral localizado no interior da região norte do mesmo estado. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida em três assentamentos federais beneficiados pelo PRONAF recorreu-se a uma amostra significativa de 30% entre os beneficiários a serem entrevistados, as variáveis utilizadas para análise foram: caracterização do financiamento, quantificação do rebanho e o destino desta produção. Como conclusão foi observado que a pecuária desenvolvida dentro dos assentamentos está caracterizada como típica de subsistência.

Evaluation of the cattle activity among the beneficiaries of PRONAF a the in the north area of the state of Ceará. Year crop 2003/ 2004

Abstract: The proposal of this work was to accomplish an evaluation about the participation of the cattle activity among the beneficiaries of PRONAF THE in the North area of the state of Ceará, in the year crop of 2003/2004. The research had a character eminently descriptive. It was fallen back upon a documental and bibliographical research initially that served as theoretical subsidy for the development of the work starting from the main institutions involved with the Program, and starting from the tabulations of the available data they were selected for the research the municipal districts of located Itarema in the coast north of the state of Ceará and located Sobral inside the north area of the same state. The research was developed in three federal establishments benefitted by PRONAF it was fallen back upon a significant sample of 30% among the beneficiaries to be her interviewed, the variables used for analysis they were: characterization of the financing, quantification of the flock and the destiny of this production. As conclusion was observed that the livestock developed inside of the establishments it is characterized as typical of subsistence.
