Resumo: Caesalpinia pyramidalis Tul. é uma espécie pertencente a família Caesalpinaceae, de porte arbóreo, atingindo mais de cinco metros de altura. Apresenta boa resistência ao déficit hídrico e é muito comum na Caatinga. Entre as diversas espécies nativas da Caatinga, a catingueira, aliada a outros recursos naturais, apresenta-se como boa alternativa alimentar para os rebanhos nesse bioma, pois se mantém com bom teor de proteína bruta durante boa parte do ano. Este trabalho tem como objetivo determinar as variáveis biométricas e aspectos morfológicos e físicos de frutos e sementes da espécie, coletadas de matrizes adultas no Município de Ceará- Mirim, RN. A coleta foi realizada no período chuvoso e foram obtidos cerca de 50 frutos, selecionando-se 42, desconsiderando os frutos com má formação. Os frutos e sementes foram secos a temperatura ambiente e medidos o comprimento, largura e espessura do material coletado. O fruto de Caesalpinia pyramidalis é do tipo legume seco, deiscente, com 10,9 a 6,5 cm de comprimento, 2,9 a 1,1 cm de largura e 9 a 2,3 mm de espessura, glabro, de coloração marrom esverdeada, pouco brilhoso, plano, delgado, de consistência coriácea com sutura dorsal pouco dilatada e número de sementes variando de 4 a 1 por fruto. As sementes são de cor verde-escura, ovaladas, tegumento liso, brilhante, delgado e de consistência coriácea medindo de 1,6 a 0,8 cm de comprimento, 1,3 a 0,6 cm de largura e 2,3 a 0,9 mm de espessura.

Analysis morphologic and biometric analysis of fruits and seeds from a specie feed: Caesalpinia pyramidalis Tul. (catingueira)

abstract: Caesalpinia pyramidalis Tul. is a specie belonging to family Caesalpinaceae , ofpostage arboreal, reaching five meters of height more than. It presents good resistance the deficit hídric deficit and it's too much common on Caatinga. Among the diverse native species of the Caatinga, the catingueira, allied to other natural resources is presented as good alimentary alternation for the flocks in this biomas, therefore it is remained with good content of protein brutal during good part of the year. This work has as objective to determine the biometrics and morphologic variables of the fruits and seeds of the species, collected of adult matrices in the City of Ceará-Mirim, RN. The collection was realized through in the rainy period and had been obtained about 50 fruits, selecting themselves 42, disrespect the fruits with bad formation. The fruits and seeds had been dry the ambient temperature and measured the length, width and thickness of the collected material. The fruit of Caesalpinia pyramidalis is of the type dry dehiscent vegetable, with 10.9-6.5 cm length, 2.9-1.1 cm width and 9-2.3 mm of thickness, glabro of coloration brown greenish, brightnesses, plane, thin, of coriace consistency with dorsal suture little expanded and number of seeds varying of 4-1 for fruit. The seeds are of green26 a 30 de maio de 2008 João Pessoa, PB – UFPB/ABZ 2 darken color, oval, smooth, shining, thin tegument and coriace consistency measuring of 1.6-0.8 cm of length, 1.3-0.6 cm of width and 2.3-0.9 mm of thickness.
