Resumo: O experimento foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar a inclusão do farelo de algodão (FA) e da fitase no desempenho de poedeiras leves. O experimento foi executado num delineamento inteiramente ao acaso em esquema fatorial 4x2 (0, 3, 6 e 12% de FA X 0 ou 600 unidades de fitase – UF), que resultou em oito tratamentos com quatro repetições de seis aves. Houve interação FA x UF apenas para gravidade específica dos ovos. A inclusão do FA não afetou o desempenho das aves. As unidades de fitase aumentaram o consumo de ração. Recomenda-se a inclusão de 12% de FA na ração de poedeiras.

Cottonseed meal inclusion in laying hens diet supplemented with or without phytase

abstract: This experiment was undertaken to evaluate the effect of cottonseed meal (CSM) and phytase on performance of laying hens. The experiment was executed in randomized completely design in factorial arrangement 4x2 (0, 3, 6 and 12% CSM X 0 or 600 FTU), with eight treatment and four replicates of six birds. There was effect of interaction CSM x FTU only on egg shell specific gravity. Moreover, the CSM inclusion did not affect on performance of hens, but the FTU supplementation increase feed intake. Therefore, it is recommended the inclusion of 12% of CSM in the laying hens diet.
