Resumo: O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar o efeito do fornecimento de suplementação protéica com níveis crescentes de proteína bruta sobre o comportamento ingestivo de bovinos. A área experimental composta de 8 hectares em uma pastagem com Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu foi dividida em 3 piquetes sob pastejo contínuo, utilizando-se a técnica put-and-take. Os tratamentos consistiram em suplementos com 0 % de proteína bruta (suplemento mineral-tratamento controle), 20% e 40% de proteína bruta, num delineamento inteiramente casualizado. Os animais testes foram 21 novilhos inteiros da raça nelore. Para as variáveis tempo de pastejo, tempo de ócio e tempo de ruminação, detectou-se interação significativa (P<0,05) entre os níveis de suplementação protéica e os meses de avaliação. Não se observou diferenças entre os níveis de suplementação, no mês de fevereiro, para o tempo de pastejo. No entanto, no mês de março, os tratamentos apresentaram um comportamento quadrático, sendo o menor valor registrado pelo nível de suplementação de 20%. Observou-se para tempos de cocho e ruminação comportamento quadrático, nos quais os maiores valores foram para o nível de suplementação de 20%, nos dois meses de avaliação. Para o tempo de ócio, os níveis de suplementação apresentaram diferenças significativas, no qual o melhor modelo foi o quadrático. Para essa variável o nível de 20% foi superior aos demais.

Cattle ingestive behaviour in grazing under different levels of protein supplementation at the time of the waters

Abstract: The object of the work was to assess the effect of protein supplementation catering with crescent levels of crude protein about the cattle ingestive behaviour. The experimental area with 8 hectare of a Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu was divided in three plots on continual pasturing, using the put-and-take technique. The treatments consisted in supplements with 0% of crude protein (mineral supplement – control treatement), 20% and 40% of crude protein, in a complet randomized design. The test-animals were 21 not castrated steers of the Nellore race. To the changeable grazing time, leisure time and rumination time, it was detected significant interaction (P<0,05) between the level of protein supplementation and the assessment mounths. It wasn’t observed any difference between the level of supplementation in February, to the grazing time. However, in march the treatment showed quadratic behaviour, been the minor registered value by the level of supplementation of 20%. The trough and rumination time had the treatments with a quadratic behaviour, in that the larger values were to the level of supplementation of 20% in the two assessment mounths. To the leisure time, the levels of supplementation showed significant differences, that the better model was the quadratic. To this changeable the level of 20% was uppermost.
