Resumo: O estudo foi conduzido para avaliar a idade à primeira parição (IPP) e o intervalo de parto (IDP) na raça Nelore, utilizando 437 observações de IPP e 1302 observações de IDP de animais criados em regime de pasto, no período de 1983 a 1999. A média da IPP foi 1262,4 ± 246,79 dias com coeficiente de variação de 20%, e do IDP foi 435,5 ± 102,5 dias com coeficiente de variação de 18,5%. O efeito do ano foi significativo (P<0,01) assim como da estação de nascimento (P<0,05) sobre a IPP. Verificou-se que a média da IPP dos animais nascidos no outono foi superior às obtidas no verão e na primavera. Houve efeito significativo (P<0,01) do ano de parição e da estação de parição (P<0,05) sobre a duração do IDP. A média do IDP obtida no inverno foi maior que aquela obtida no outono. A ordem de parição influenciou significativamente (P<0,01) a duração do IDP. A IPP mostrou-se longa havendo necessidade de fecundar as fêmeas precocemente. O IDP do rebanho estudado, para as condições de clima tropical, pode ser considerado como s atisfatório.

Study of environmental effects on age at first parturition and parturition interval of Nelore bovine, in Rio de Janeiro state

Abstract: A study was conducted to evaluate age at first parturition (AFP) and parturition interval (PI) in Nelore breed, using a total of 437 data of AFP and 1302 data of PI from animals raised in pasture, from 1983 to 1999. The average of AFP was 1262.4 ± 246.79 days with coeficient variation of 20%, and the PI was 453 ± 102,5 day with coeficient variation of 18.5%, respectively. The effect of the year was significant (P<0,01) so which the birth season (P<0,05) by the AFP. The average of AFP of animals born on the autumn was higher than the summer and spring. There was a significant effect (P<0,01) of the parturition year and the parturition season (P<0,05) by the PI. The average of PI obtained in the winter was higher than the autumn. The parturition order was significative influence (P<0,01) by the duration of PI. The AFP was longer shoed there was a necessity to fecundate the females forwarded.The PI of the studied herd, for the tropical climate condition, can be considerated as satisfacted.
