Resumo: O objetivo do presente trabalho foi acompanhar a evolução do peso corporal de novilhas bubalinas dos 18 aos 36 meses na região sul do Espírito Santo. As medidas foram registradas de 21 novilhas bubalinas mestiças para raça Mediterrânea e Murrah. As mensurações do peso foram realizadas uma vez a cada mês e as medidas corporais foram realizadas quando as novilhas estavam com 18 e 36 meses. Observou-se que o crescimento foi linear que estes animais não atingiram a maturidade aos 36 meses de idade. Para as medidas corporais altura de cernelha e garupa das novilhas bubalinas os valores foram superiores aos encontrados na literatura, mas para o perímetro torácico os valores foram semelhantes.

Ponderal performance and corporal measures from buffaloes in south of Espírito Santo state

Abstract: The objective of this study was to accompany the evolution of the corporal weight of female buffaloes of the 18 to the 36 months in south or Espírito Santo State. The measures were registered of 21 female crossbreed buffaloes. The measurements of the weight were accomplished once every month and the corporal measures were accomplished when the female buffaloes were with 18 and 36 months. It was observed that the growth was lineal that these animals didn't reach the maturity to the 36 months of age. For the measures corporal hip height and withers height of the female buffaloes they were superior to the found in the literature, however, for the thoracic perimeter the values were similar.
