Resumo: Este trabalho teve o objetivo de avaliar a produção de leite de vinte e três vacas Pé- Duro no semi-árido. O controle foi realizado semanalmente, com ordenha manual e na presença dos bezerros. O manejo alimentar consistiu de pastagem nativa, na época de transição entre o período chuvoso e seco e pastagem diferida de capim buffel (Cenchrus ciliaris) na época de escassez crítica de forragens na caatinga, suplementação volumosa de feno de capim buffel, palma forrageira e 1,0 de concentrado/vaca/dia. Durante todo o ano os animais tiveram acesso ao sal mineral e água à vontade. Verificou-se que as produções diária e total variaram de 0,84 a 1,44 e 72,18 a 412,90 kg, em períodos de lactação de 55 a 287 dias, respectivamente. As vacas Pé- Duro apresentaram produção de leite compatível com o manejo alimentar utilizado e, possivelmente, com seu potencial genético. É necessário melhorar o manejo alimentar para melhor avaliar o potencial produtivo desses animais.

Milk production of cows Pe Duro native breed

Abstract: The objective of study to evaluate the milk production of twenty three Pé-Duro native cows at the semi-arid. The milk control was weekly, through manual milking with presence of the calves. The feeding management was native pasture of caatinga and buffelgrass pasture differed in the critical period forage, plus prickly pear cactus and 1.0 kg of concentrade/cow/day. During the year the animals had access to the mineral salt and water ad libitum. It verified itself that the daily and total productions varied from 0,84 to 1,44 and 72,18 to 412,90 kg, respectively. However, it observed that the potential persistence of lactation was above 95% between the controls. The Pe Duro cows presented milk production compatible with feed management utilized and possibly, with his genetic potential. It is necessary improve the management feed of Pe-Duro cows for better evaluate the productive potential of those animals.
