Resumo: Este rabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de identificar se o grau de importância que os pecuaristas da bovinocultura de corte atribuem à preservação ambiental varia com a idade dos mesmos e com o tamanho de fazenda. Para a sua realização, 125 pecuaristas foram entrevistados, 44,6%, residem e possuem fazenda localizada no sudeste do país, 50% do total atribuíram grau de importância entre 9 e 10 e 32,8 % entre 7 e 8. Os pecuaristas com idade entre 37 e 52 e fazendas com tamanho de até 1.000 hectares são os que atribuem maior importância à preservação ambiental. Concluindo-se que, o presente trabalho contribui para o conhecimento inicial do grau de importância que os pecuaristas da bovinocultura de corte estão atribuindo à preservação e a conservação ambiental. E deixa claro, a necessidade de despertar o setor para a gestão ambiental.

The relationship among age of the beef cattle farmers, the size of farm and the environmental preservation

abstract: The objective of this study was to identify if the degree of importance that the beef cattle farmers attribute to the environmental preservation varies with their age and with the size their farms. One hundred and twenty five beef cattle farmers were interviewed through a questionnaire during Expozebu 2003, in Uberaba - MG, and it was analyzed by association means using the "qui-square " test. From the total of beef cattle farmers interviewed 44,6% live and possess farm located in the Southeast of the country. 50% (of total farmers) attributed degrees of importance between 9 and 10; 32,8% between 7 and 8. The beef cattle farmers with age between 37 and 52 and farms with size of up to 1.000 hectares are the ones that attribute larger importance to the environmental preservation. Being ended that, the present work contributed to the initial knowledge of the degree of importance that the beef cattle farmers are attributing to the preservation and the environmental conservation. The need to wake up the sector for the environmental administration is evidenced by this work.
