Abstract: It was had for objective to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of strainsof positive Staphylococcus coagulase, negative Staphylococcus coagulase, positive esculin Streptococcus, isolated negative esculin Streptococcus and haemolytica Manheymia of mastitic milk of sheep of the race Saint Ines, front the hidroalcoholic extracts of Stryphnodendron adstringens. The techniques of macrodilution in pipes and diffusion in records with concentrations of 100ug/ml of extract had been used; 200ug/ml; 300ug/ml and 400ug/ml, front the standardized bacterial inocula in 0,5 of the scale of Mac Farland. The results of the use of the extract of the rind of the barbatimão in the 5 samples of positive Staphylococcus coagulase, had demonstrated that in 2 (40%) CIM in 400ug/ml of the extract were observed; 1 (20%) in 300ug/ml and 1 (20%) in 200ug/ml. In the test of diffusion in records, 14,2mm for the concentration was observed average of inhibition halos 400ug/ml of the extract; 12,6mm for 300ug/ml; 11mm for 200ug/ml and 8,4mm for 100ug/ml. For the 5 samples of negative Staphylococcus coagulse, all (100%) had had CIM in 400ug/ml of the extract; e the halos of inhibition of the test of diffusion in records, had had average of 12,6mm for the concentration of 400ug/ml of the extract, 12,0 mm for the one of 300 and 200ug/ml and 10,4mm for the one of 100ug/ml. Of the 5 samples of positive esculin Streptococcus, only in 1 (20%), it was gotten CIM, which was in 400ug/ml of the extract. The average of halos of inhibition for these samples had been of 9mm for 400ug/ml of the extract, 3,8mm for 300ug/ml of the extract, 1,8mm for the concentration of 200ug/ml and 1,2 for the one of 100ug/ml. In the 5 samples of negative esculin Streptococcus, in 3 (60%) it was only gotten CIM, that it was of 400ug/ml; already the inhibition halos had had average of 4,6mm for the concentration of 400ug/ml, 3,2mm for the one of 300ug/ml, 0,8mm for the one of 200ug/ml and 0mm for the one of 100ug/ml. In the 5 samples of haemolytica Manheymia, it was not gotten CIM with the established concentrations of the extract; e only perceived a halo average of inhibition in the concentration of 400ug/ml of the extract that was of 1,4mm. For all the samples that if tested with the extract of the barbatimão, the CBM and the anti-septic activity had been found, by means of the concentrations that had been used of the extract.
